Motorola Photon 4G smartphone

The Photon 4G smartphone is a new offering from Motorola that is now available on Sprint.  This Android 2.3 phone features a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, a 4.3 inch display, and a number of unique design features.

The Motorola Photon 4G is being applauded by many as the best Android phone on Sprint, although the EVO 3D does offer some healthy competition.  As the first ever Samsung phone to feature WiMAX 4G, as well as good call quality and powerful performance, the Photon 4G is starting to make some big waves.

The Photon 4G is a big phone, coming in at 5 inches by 2.63 inches by 0.48 inches.  On the left side of the phone you get a microUSB port and a HDMI port, with the volume control and camera shortcut button on the right, and the headphone jack on the top.
While this phone may be big, the unique octagonal style design does give it a compact and futuristic look, and at 5.57 ounces it is quite light considering the size.  There is a kickstand on the back of the device, with the software automatically reorienting itself to landscape mode and the home screen changing when it is used.
The Motorola Photon 4G runs Android 2.3, although it also runs Motorola’s own MotoBlur software service.  This allows users to connect widgets from a number of third party services, such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.
Some of the additional features of the Motorola Photon 4G include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, and support for a 32GB microSD card.  There is also an 8MP camera on-board, and the ability to dock with the webtop dock to access three USB ports and a number of productivity apps.  With the Tegra 2 processor and access to Sprint’s 4G network, the Motorola Photon 4G is a serious competitor for anyone in the market for an Android device.
